does anyone have info on tax assessments?

my tax assessment seems to have doubled from last year. i am told i can dispute this but i dont even know where to start. does anyone know short of hiring a lawyer, where can i get info on how to fight this unreasonable amount they have assessed my house at.

    You’ll need to identify comparable houses in your area – about the same size, condition and amenities. See what they are assessed at. You might be able to find the info online if your county puts it there – or you can get it at the county assessor’s office. If your assessment is pretty much in line with the others, you don’t have a case, but if it’s higher, use that info to argue that yours is too high.

    Did you get a letter from the IRS called a CP2000 notice or a lien on your house? You can usually dispute it if they’re corrected info is wrong. You don’t really need a lawyer, contact a Tax CPA or an Enrolled Agent immediately. If you’re short on cash, enrolled agents usually charge less.
