If a family of 4 earns $4000 a month after taxes. Has a Mtg payment of $1200 a month. 2 car payments of $900 a month , Groceries of $650 a month. Utilities of $450 a month. Medical and Dental Expense of $100. THIS PROJECTS OUT TO SPENDING 82.5% OF YOUR PAY. Now change that income to $20,000 a month. Do you see how the wealthy will pay a lower percentage of their total income in taxes. Their is nothing FAIR about the Fair Tax!

Thanks but no thanks. I used to support the Fair Tax, until I really studied it. I've come to the conclusion that it's curing a broken arm by chopping it off at the shoulder and then breaking the other one. This "cure" is worse than the disease. When looking at any piece of legislation the foremost question in your mind should be, "How could this law possibly be abused?" Apply that to the Fair Tax, and if your brain doesn't shrivel up and leap out of your ears in horror than you don't give our government enough credit. I am strongly against that nonsense. The progressive income tax is fairly balanced already by the regressive nature of sales and property taxes - which fall heaviest on the incomes of the middle class, who spend the largest proportion of their income on housing and goods. Your 'fair tax' is just a big break for the wealthy. It’s not apathy. I am strongly against that nonsense.
